Coldplay's donations to reforestation projects around the world in partnership with One Tree Planted

By introducing almost 80 native and naturalised species, the initiative is enhancing plant diversity and rebuilding ecological balance in regions that have been affected by intensive agriculture and land degradation. These plantations create microhabitats that support a wide range of fauna, including birds, pollinators, reptiles, and small mammals, contributing to the recovery of local ecosystems. The increase in vegetation cover improves habitat availability and connectivity, enabling the movement and survival of species while fostering the development of ecological corridors. Early observations of indicator species such as birds and pollinators highlight the project’s positive impact on ecosystem health. Additionally, diverse plant species improve genetic diversity, making ecosystems more resilient to climate variability and environmental stress. The restoration efforts also enhance soil quality and moisture retention, creating favorable conditions for both flora and fauna. By reducing erosion and improving groundwater recharge, the project supports long-term ecosystem stability. Overall, these interventions lay the foundation for long-term biodiversity gains, increased species abundance, and resilient landscapes that are better equipped to adapt to future environmental challenges.
This reforestation initiative delivers significant social and economic benefits, strengthening rural communities and fostering long-term sustainability. Employment Generation & Livelihoods: The project created approximately 5,000 seasonal jobs, engaging local community members in nursery management, plantation, maintenance, and monitoring activities. These opportunities provide stable income sources and strengthen rural livelihoods. Economic Empowerment: By generating an estimated $1.87 million in annual income, the initiative improves financial security and supports economic independence among participating households. Support to Local Communities: The project directly benefits around 62,700 families across 200+ villages, including smallholder farmers, land stewards, and rural households. Community-led plantation on Panchayat lands ensures shared ownership and long-term stewardship. Gender Equity & Inclusion: Women play a central role, contributing to 70–75% of caregiving and stewardship activities. They are actively involved in nursery operations, plantation, and maintenance, gaining skills, income, and leadership roles in environmental conservation
