- This restoration project is located in the province of Jujuy, Argentina, which is home to one of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. Reforestation is focused on the subtropical montane forest of the Yungas, where Polylepis australis can be found from 2,000m (6,562ft) to 2,800m (9,186ft) above sea level; and in the semi-desert region of the Puna, where Polylepis tomentella grows from 3,700m (12,139ft) to 4,000m (14,108ft). In both sites, conservation of standing Polylepis forests and planting activities are coordinated with local native communities.
