Description
This project is located in the mountains of central Argentina, locally known as Sierras Grandes de Córdoba. Most of the provincial rivers are formed in this region, which provide water to more than two million people. The Sierras Grandes de Córdoba form a biogeographic island habitat home to over 40 endemic species with very specialized characteristics. The restoration of these environments, particularly native high altitude Polylepis forests, contributes to the conservation of the region's unique biodiversity. Above 1500m (4921ft), the highest part of the Sierras Grandes is protected by the Pampa de Achala Provincial Water Reserve. Conservation and restoration activities are carried out in different strategic locations throughout the Reserve.
