- ECOAN, Acción Andina’s lead partner, operates in the Calipuy National Sanctuary in western Peru, a protected area that was deteriorated by cattle expansion before its establishment. Launched in 2023, the project focuses on restoring Polylepis forests and safeguarding native Puya raimondii (a species of flowering plant that can grow up to 15m), while engaging local communities in conservation efforts linked to water sources and forest recovery.
