Description
This area in the southern region of the Sendamal Micro-Basin, at altitudes between 2,600m and 3,500m (8,530ft and 14,764ft), once contained considerable patches of natural forests. However, most have been destroyed due to shifting cultivation and ranching practices that have intensified environmental degradation. Vegetation has been reduced to small relicts or forests made up of only a few different species. The restoration project has developed collaborations with local communities to restore the native forests of the Sendamal Basin.
